I hate American Funds. My company uses them for our 401k, but I have all of my
money in the one non AF option we have. Fees are high and performance isn't the best.
I'd look into Charles Schwab.

It is hard to believe that with all of the options available at Vanguard that

Take a look at VASGX. Is that similar to what you have with AF?

Your asset allocation seems pretty different given your examples.

Exactly. If you’re worried about what happened last year, you are worrying about the wrong thing.
Mr. Belding
1/25/20 12:57pm
just the last 2-3 years, but I get your point

20-30 years is what matters.

DFA funds, with tilts towards dimensions of higher expected returns, outperform index funds in the long term.

People act like it's impossible to pick stocks. It's done successfully every day

Very very few can outperform index funds over the long haul.

Yeah but not by the same person everyday. Especially over the long term. But please keep stock picking and trading.

My financial advisor is having us move some things from American Funds to Polen Capital

He probably needs some turn over transaction fees.

Exactly. He’s a commissioned salesman, not a financial advisor.
Mr. Belding

Do you think the advice is bad? Or is it how he gets paid that you don’t like?

It is the moral hazard that is created based on how he gets paid.
