Why is American Heritage such an abomination of a class at BYU?

I am pretty good with history. But that class was nuts. Packed auditorium with close to 1000 students in the class. Professors who lecture with no class interaction. Tests and quizzes where you have to be a wizard to know what exact phrase of the book will be used.

I had no issues with it, but I took to a looong time ago. (i.e. the Frank Fox era)

The lectures were great. Inspiring even. The quizzes and tests had nothing to do with the lectures.
