My Two Cents....

We spent two nights at the following B&B just outside Bayeaux, in the little town of Villers-Bocage. It was an awesome place.

Le Ferme Du Pressoir

I have never stayed in a B&B before, even here in the states.  The family that runs this place was great....the breakfast and meal provided was very Americanized and lots of food.  Plus, the host gave us small bottles of Cognac as a parting gift (some guy cleaning our rental car had a good day at work!)  I'm not sure if all their rooms are this way, but the room we had had it's own private toilet and shower.

Being in Normandy area and staying in Villers Bocage really changed my American perception of French people.  The people in the Normandy area were exceptionally kind & patient to us Americans.  We were told, and I believe it, that the people in that area still revere Americans as their liberators from Nazi Germany.  So there are a lot of good feelings still towards Americans.

We spent one day at Normandy Beaches.  We hired a guide who we met near Villers Bocage.  He got in our vehicle and spent the entire day with us.  I would highly recommend doing something similar, especially if your time is limited.  I feel like our time was very well spent with him helping us navigate traffic, etc.  Plus, the time in the car was well spent as he related story after story.  We got to see a lot of neat places in just 6-7 hours of time.

We asked our guide at the end of the day, if we were to come back to Normandy area, what else we could see.  He told us he has been had been hired by a family to guide them on 7 different day trips....and he still has weeks worth of places to visit if they call him again.  So needless to say, there's so much to see in that area.

We did not make it to Mont St. Michel.  It is even farther west than Normandy and in the wrong direction from Paris.

I know everyone has their own preferences and style, but after spending time in Paris and Normandy, the only reason I would return to Paris is for the airplane to land and get in a rental car and head to Normandy.  Paris, in my opinion, was so overcrowded, difficult to navigate, overpriced, etc.

Feel free if you have any questions to let me know.
