close to us. You can check the link below to see that. How much the committee will factor those records into their decision along with everything else is unknown, but it's there. Fans usually pick out the one or two factors that make them look the best in comparison and ignore those that don't. Also, the committee has never used rpi or NET straight across for seeding and have said so. Fans also always get greedy. If we're projected for a 6 we should be a 5 or 4 when we all would have given an arm or leg for that projection a few weeks ago.
However, that said, going in BYU's favor is the non-conference SOS and the fact that 3 of our 4 q1 losses are to teams in the top 5. So in theory that record could/probably would look a little better had we traded those games for opponents ranked a few spots lower. Also, the win over Gonzaga is huge. Only six other teams in the nation have a win against a top 3 team in the NET. Also, as you said, Yoeli having been out for so many games could be factored in also. The committee is supposed to consider all those things and they like teams that schedule difficult games outside of their league.
But all in all, we weren't supposed to be in the conversation this year. I'd be thrilled with any seed in the top 6 lines.
