I thought the same thing this morning
I have monitoring the spread more because I have a vacation in Italy planned in May. Italy went from about 280 announced cases to 320 today. Travelers returning from Northern Italy have brought it home with them to Spain, France, Greece, Croatia, Austria, and Switzerland. Not great, but the confirmed cases are not growing exponentially right now. It's a slow incremental growth. The first two cases in Italy were confirmed on January 31st. So 25 days later it has spread to 320. This is encouraging considering how Italy bungled this in the beginning — basically infecting an entire hospital. Today 53 new cases were announced in Italy. Yesterday it was 94 new cases, so hopefully this is a positive downward trend.

It doesn't mean it won't eventually spread to every country and kill tens of thousands over the next couple of years, but hopefully it means there won't be wide spread panic and the accompanying deep worldwide recession.
