I think a lot of positive will come from it
1. I think America (and the western world) will wake up and start ensuring that we manufacture more products at home. Particularly those related to health and national defense. I think globalization will decline (for good and bad).
2. I hope Americans are growing even more tired of corporate irresponsibility and subsequent bailouts and I hope the people rise up when this inevitably happens again (although I'm not terribly optimistic about this one).
3. I hope Americans will see the flaw in being highly in debt and highly leveraged as a nation and as individuals and that investors and industries will see the flaws in chasing efficiency and leverage at the expense of not building funds for a rainy day as quickly as possible.

If this is another 9/11 it will be interesting to see what freedoms we sacrifice for supposed security from the govt
