While ultimately we don't know how bad this outbreak would be if unchecked, we know that one of the world's foremost experts on the matter predicted 2.8 million to die in the U.S. and UK alone. Hence possibly millions. I think most would agree that saving millions is worth what we are going through.

We may never know how many lives we ultimately saved by doing what we did. We can guess based on data, but we will probably never know.

If we did know and it was 10,000, then maybe we wouldn't take the same actions if done again. But the possibility could be millions at the point we made our decisions and still exists today.
