The question itself makes zero sense.
You're asking that if we were unable to notice a new disease killing ~1-2% of the infected population and sickening 10-15% severely enough for hospitalization, would we have noticed anything unusual? If we were incapable of noticing that suddenly severe respiratory illness were increasing at an exponential rate, would we have noticed anything?
