For all non-covid19 causes of death shown (cancer, heart disease, influenza/pneumonia), it gives the AVERAGE daily (total yearly deaths divided by 365 days) number of deaths. For Covid, it’s giving the actual number of daily deaths. This makes the CoVid19 deaths look waaaaaay more significant than they actually are in comparison to the other causes of death.
My best effort to provide an apples to apples comparison of the numbers that are being shown in the linked video:
Average daily Covid19 deaths (if total deaths thus far were divided by 365) to date would still only be 7.15 (2608/365). Obviously that’s going to rise significantly. Most recent high estimates for total US deaths I’ve seen are 100,000 to 200,000. That would be 274 to 548 average daily deaths, which would be anywhere from 7th to 3rd top US causes of death this year.
I’m not a data scientist, so please check my numbers.
