Hasn't it been said enough that COVID is particularly severe
in comparison to the regular flu in terms of both contagiousness and risk of associated ARDS? There are sources online that describe how COVID tends to effect both upper and lower respiratory tracts simultaneously and the virus particles tend to bind to cell surfaces more easily. And all this results in a greater chance of life threatening pneumonia quickly developing.

This is in response to "the risks with COVID for that age group appear no different than for the flu ".
