With age come comorbidities. You said yourself they are intertwined.
Hypertension, heart disease, obesity, diabetes, cancer - go down the list!
Every one of these disease states increases dramatically with age, especially after 65.
How many 30 year olds do you know that have seriously, uncontrolled hypertension? Heart disease?
Not everyone, but very nearly everyone dying from Covid-19 has one of more of these health problems prior to being infected.
Look at the data rather than watching the news.
