I think the more important benefit of everyone wearing masks
is to prevent the person wearing it from spreading their own germs. Keep all the nastiness to themselves.
The Asians made wearing masks an acceptable norm years ago. I wonder why Americans never really caught on? It wouldn't surprise me if most in Japan already had a plentiful supply stored up well before this outbreak.
