My fear is that they're not telling us the truth for the same reason they made it sound like only a two week lockdown, or why they told us at first that masks wouldn't help, just because they think we're too mentally feeble to handle the truth.

But yes, my question is the same. In two months there will be more widespread cases of this than when we started to lock down in the first place, even if we're well past the peak. How will we possibly keep it from exploding again? Ease up on the brakes and then slam them down again once we reach a certain disease burden?

If that's the case, we're going to be living with this until we have a vaccine or better medical treatments. Those things may or may not come in time to help. If they don't, they'll eventually have to let the virus burn anyway, and we'll have suffered the economic destruction anyway.
