Context: I was a dumb teenager and definitely doing something suspicious...My friends and I were 'checking out' and abandoned building and the cops came rolling up.

They asked us our names and I stupidly said, 'I don't think we have to give you our names unless we're breaking the law.'

The cop laughed, and said 'You are breaking the law.'  and pointed to the No Trespassing signs.

My friend said, 'Dude...don't be stupid. Give him your name.'

Nothing happened. He just gave us a stern talking to and let us go. But that's when I learned that it's best to cooperate. And to not 'check out' abandoned buildings.
