We bought a house just south of Katy on the North side of Richmond. Fulshear is another place nearby that is great.

Katy is awesome but the property taxes are higher there than some surrounding areas. You’ll have to weigh that. Part of the reason I moved to Richmond is significantly lower taxes.

The commute sucks but I go to work early to avoid traffic and leave around 4 to be on the front end of it.

Do you know where your companies office is? That should play the biggest part in deciding where you should live. There are a lot of nice places around Houston but you don’t want to pick one that makes your commute significantly longer.
