The thing you don't account for in your "analysis" is speed of treatment. These people were almost immediately
diagnosed and treated often before they showed symptoms, meaning very few had to be put on ventilators. This just isn't the case off the ship where you can't even get tested in most states unless you show several symptoms and in some places not unless your symptoms are bad enough you would be hospitalized. If we had enough tests to test everyone, I would agree that we could immediately treat and be in good shape but with scarce tests and the immense cost of such a test it isn't feasible.
