What, 3 wins in his BYU career of 10 years?
Ever looked at stats of his total wins against teams ranked at the end of the season while at BYU? I ran the numbers compared with his contemporaries from the Mountain West and WAC. Whittingham, Petersen, Patterson.
Guess who was dead last?
Even Gary Anderson had a better average against ranked teams while at Utah State.
Mendenhall is not a bad coach, but his record, by the numbers, is heavily inflated and misrepresented. He racked up a lot of W’s while at the Y, but it was largely the result of playing MWC schedules.
I’d have to dive back into the numbers, but despite Sitake’s poor showing overall, he has possibly already surpassed Mendenhall in that stat of beating teams ranked at the end of the year.
