Awesome story and service. Those bomber crews had to have nerves of steel.
US bomber formations in WWII are the closest analogy I can think of in modern warfare to Civil War style infantry columns marching directly into cannon fire and hoping to get close enough to trade volleys with the enemy. God bless people like your dad.
