Targeting Diagnostics and Therapeutics to Activated Fibroblasts in Cancer and
Fibrosis. Technically it will be a Chemistry degree with a Biochem focus, but in practice it's more of a Med Chem/Drug Discovery project. Got my undergrad in Biochemistry at BYU.

I'm no virus nor blood expert, but I get plenty of scientific exposure to the fundamental science of this virus. My research advisor is a world-class blood biochemistry expert. Got his undergrad at BYU back in the 60s, did his PhD working on blood biochemistry, and it's been one of several projects he's worked on ever since. He's also on our university's Coronavirus task force, so he's sitting in on multiple meetings everyday on Covid-19. Several of my colleagues specialize specifically in blood biochemistry, and none of think this theory is worth consideration. My colleague who sits next to me just submitted his paper on treating influenza to a Science journal and is a virus expert. I have another colleague who sits right across from me doing molecular docking with Sars-Cov-2 spike protein.

I will add a disclaimer that I'm not saying this hypothesis is wrong outright, I just have yet to see any compelling evidence that it's plausible, and based on just the fundamentals, it strikes me as highly unlikely. As far as I can tell, all of this postulation stems from a single paper that I've already stated should not be taken seriously for multiple reasons. I'm open to changing my mind if there are other papers you wish to share that dive into the biochemistry.
