Bama was clearly not better for Bateman and there are far more 4* that miss the field at schools like tOHU and Bama than schools like BYU (sadly maybe not %wise thanks to some recent bad luck Tuifua and the other DE we had).

If you’re a top talent you will make it to the NFL whether at BAMA or at BYU (ask Ziggy). If not at least you’ll hit the field at BYU and get a chance.

I think your logic is more compelling for good 3* players. If they’re good but not quite that good you’ll want alleged better coaching and more resources at Bama. You may not see the field at anywhere you go.

I guess if PT isn’t your goal why are you going? BYU is a legit D1 school that would be a perennial top 20 if the best member athletes came here. The #1 unquestionable reason BYU doesn’t have more guys in the NFL is due to age.... not talent and not coaching and now not SOS....

BYU should never be seen as a lessor option but is absolutely a less flashy one.
