The crazy thing about that game is that BYU only had 14 true rush attempts for

26 yards. And because it was early in the season, Ronney Jenkins only had 1 rush attempt.

With backs like Ronney Jenkins, Brian McKenzie, and Dustin Johnson on the roster, the only reason I can think of the BYU couldn't get the ground game going against a team dropping 8 is that BYU didn't get all their running packages completely installed that early in the season.
