Before I further specialized, I saw family medicine clinic for about 7 years. I can tell you that I saw an awful lot of GERD. I could count the number of patients I saw who complained about vomiting on one hand. So yeah, it can happen, but it isn't common and it is definitely worth exploring because of all the other things that do present commonly with vomiting.
