Typically fatty foods stimulate the gallbladder
There is a chemical called cholecystokinin that is released by the stomach when you eat fatty food. This chemical causes the GB to squeeze out bile to help digest that fatty meal. However, if the GB has stones inside it, this squeezing can cause abd pain and nausea, and hence the recommendation to get your GB out. However, patients that do a low fat diet can make their symptoms to disappear, and therefore not need surgery.
