it was just different than anything else up to that point. Looking back on it now the dialogue was kind of cheesy and the plot was cliched but the movie as a whole was just not something we'd seen before. I remember how great I'd thought Logan's Run was just a couple of years earlier and Star Wars just blew it away visually.
