On the otherhand...
my wife and I went to St. George this last weekend and since it was a last minute decision to go we were limited in Hotel choices and got a room at the Best Western Corral Hills. Let me just say it is a decent hotel and we've stayed there previously, it isn't a dive.

But on Sunday afternoon we had just gotten back from a bike ride and while I was laying on the bed in our room cooling off my wife said she was going down to get some ice. She was gone a bit longer than I thought she'd be gone but I figured maybe she was talking to someone or something like that. Then she called me on my phone.

She said she couldn't come back up to our room because the stairs were blocked from an altercation so I got up and walked out to check it out. She was standing below me talking to another lady and the parking lot was filled with cop cars and cops, not sure how I didn't hear anything, and the cops were in the process of taking a black guy down to the ground and cuffing him although they were not being overly physical with him IMO, they didn't body slam him or anything.

He's yelling at the cops and putting up some opposition but none of the cops were yelling and none of them were hitting or beating him or doing anything other than restraining him and trying to talk to him. Meanwhile another black guys, obviously his friend came out and started filming the whole thing and he was being pretty boisterous towards the cops. Then a couple of large Polynesian girls came out and were trying to restrain the second guy who was doing the filming on his phone and yelling about racism and how the film was going on the internet, etc.

Eventually the cops did arrest the first guy, the girls and cops talked some sense into the second guy because he settled down enough that he didn't get arrested and the whole thing was done remarkably peacefully on the cops part. I went out fully expecting to watch some fireworks and a beat down but kudos to the cops for not letting it come to that. Perhaps the fact that at least 50 people were watching, it was right next to the pool and the pool was crowded, contributed to the cops not going all out on the guy(s) but never the less they did not.

The guy that got arrested deserved to get arrested, I don't feel like posting the entirety of the incident but he was acting up and had even come menacingly towards my wife which had gotten a bunch of the guys at the pool over to her defense and caused the cops to be called. In fact I'm expecting to see other guys film or something about it on twitter or some other internet something like those ones you see all of the time about cops supposedly violating peoples rights and being racists. If anyone does see anything about an incident in St. George pop up online somewhere then come back and post it and I'll give the actual details rather than just the sure to be claims of the cops being racist and/or on a power trip.
