I personally think Terry Porter and Kevin Johnson were both better options than

Isiah Thomas was at that time. I know that Isiah was a bigger "star" than either of those 2, but I think both Porter and Johnson were better than Thomas as of 1992. Thomas was at his peak in the mid-to-late 80s. The only player on the above list I would consider Isiah over is Laettner.
