Keep in mind watching clips shows him in JC ball. He's taking the next step up and was at 13 ppg last year, so it's not like he was this total killer at the JC level. When people mention Halford, they're not saying he's Halford, but also keep in mind that Halford was also at SLCC and led the whole conference in scoring. Halford's freshman numbers are more similar to Johnson's redshirt freshman numbers.

I'm not comparing the two at all, but the jump to the next level is real, and he hasn't shown that he has the physical attributes or sheer abilities otherwise to just jump right in and be awesome in D1 ball. He has some good tools and will help this team. I'd expect an adjustment period, with some potential in future seasons to be a double digit scorer in the 10-13 ppg range.

I'm not going to play the silly told you so game because anything can happen. But he's not an above average athlete, nor above average body for the position, nor an above average scorer at the JC level.
