Perpetual negative worriers constantly use that line on here. They're always negative, but always try to make it seem like it's not just them by adding the "hope I'm wrong" or "I'd be happy to be wrong." At some point, I don't think that's true when you're just always negative. I think some people hope they're right. Makes them feel good and above those who have hope and optimism. Like looking at people and saying "those suckers." All while pretending they're only upset because they're actually diehard fans.
