2-Teach Stop, Don’t touch, Get an adult if they see an unattended firearm. Even better is to test them with this using an airsoft gun. EVERY parent, gun owner or not should at least teach this to their kids. While you may not have guns or are safe with yours you don’t know if this is always the case with homes they go to.

3-There are some great quick access safes out there. They have multiple methods to open using keys, codes, and fingerprints. Some even connect to WiFi and will tell you if it is being opened or tampered with.

I prefer basic no frills ones but can see the attraction to some of the new models and technologies for some people.

Also beware if your spouse hasn’t shot guns and only has ideas about what Hollywood or the media has taught they are likely scared and don’t understand how guns work. They likely are worried about guns “going off” or other falsehoods. Next time you watch a tv show or movie with guns pay attention to how guns are randomly clicking when picked up.
