CoachSpeak Intervention Needed
I was born in the 60’s but not old enough to have many strong memories...
so I can’t tell you what that was like outside of my little kid life. But the 70’s weren’t overly antagonistic from my viewpoint. Certainly not as much racial division as we have now which is surprising considering we’d barely gotten the civil rights act and the civil rights movement a few years previous.

Part of that may have been that I’ve never lived down south, I spent most of the 70’s in the Bay Area which was pretty integrated. But I certainly don’t remember the type of acrimony that we have now. In fact my best friend through elementary school was black and it didn’t seem strange and I don’t remember anyone acting like it was odd. The third member of our friend group was Jewish so we probably made quite the crew with a black kid, a Mormon kid, and a Jewish kid.
