I think his defensive versatility may favor him there over Lowell. Lowell's
offensive skills are probably a better fit for the 3 than Gavin's, but ultimately the game is more about what works on defense rather than what's best on offense (for a guy like Pope, anyways).
Also Gavin has expressed his desire to become a wing. Offensively he has a long way to go — but it definitely wouldn't shock me to see Pope give him a chance there considering our needs. The addition of Haarms also will give us the flexibility to make such a move work quite easily, I think.
We shall see.
