can so dramatically alter a human's life.

We're talking about something that might provide five minutes of perverse pleasure. And the victim is irreparably harmed. Oh, they might fight and fight to try to avoid letting it completely ruin them. But the proverbial genie will never get put back into the bottle - even in an absolute best-case scenario.

It's interesting being on the back-end of the process - not having been a part of a person's life when the abuse happened, but being a consistent part of their life during the years and years of aftermath. It really puts it into perspective. And since I was (thankfully) never exposed to it, growing up, I guess I was naive to how common it was. I always thought, "Well, of course it happens. But it's rare." Then, the older you get, the more you learn how it is absolutely everywhere. I know our kids think we are helicopter parents, when it comes to vetting the people we allow them to spend time with. But look at this guy. You would never know he has that kind of evil in him.

Talk about an absolutely ideal tool in Satan's hands.
