Was the country bear jamboree. It was this ride that inspired the creation of The land called bear country.
Now bear country was changed to critter country when splash mountain was created and lived alongside the bear country jamboree for many years until it was replaced by Winnie the Pooh.
Splash Mountain was an insert into bear country and almost everything that originally was there survived its entrance into the region. There used to Be a hill of some sort where Splash Mountain used to be. But the buildings near the exit were all there, the log cabin merchandise store was also in bear country, and the country bear entrance was untouched and was reused for Pooh.
The extension of New Orleans theming into this area will kill the mountain feel of this area and it will finish off the rest of bear country’s theming that had been around since 1972.
It will also likely finish off the hungry bear restaurant which was where I essentially ate lunch every visit from the time I was 3 to the last trip we had a year ago. And we would go every year when I was a child, a tradition that continued with my kids with the nearly yearly trips I’ve taken with my family. A 41 year tradition down the drain.
