There are a number of reasons for this. Generally, people who list on Homie try to reduce the commission for realtors so they sort of price themselves out. I have also heard from many agents that dealing with Homie is incredibly frustrating if their buyer decides they want to put an offer in.
Then the obvious thing is they are a threat to their industry. Realtors will tell you it is more because Homie doesn't have a clue what they are doing and can make people vulnerable. There is probably some truth to that but yes they are a disruptor and people don't love that.
We did just sell our house. We got nine offers in less than 48 hours where a couple of them were people trying work with Homie to buy. I will say it was very obvious which ones were Homie offers and which ones were working with a realtor. The realtor offers tended to be much more complete and finessed type offers where homie were very bare bones. Not sure if Homie just tends to attract people who feel entitled to be uber cheap or if Homie just doesn't provide a lot of wisdom while people are trying to buy and sell to help them be competitive.
