The only problem I really ever had with youth coaches was my kids coach once.
My kid was really good, and kind of outgrew our little local league. He wanted to play in Great Falls, but didn't want to play on a traveling team, which he was invited to do by several coaches. His best buddy wasn't near as good, and he still wanted to play with him. So he joined a team with a coach who was a total idiot. He had no clue about how to coach or who was even good. My son was 10x better than the next best kid on the team, who was his little buddy.

The coach's wife always set the line-up and always led off with her son (coach's step-son) who struck out 100% of the time and then cried. My son usually batted at the bottom of the lineup. Most games he didn't get up to bat until the 3rd inning, because the 6+ kids in front of him struck out. Hardest season I have ever watched, and I never said a word to the coach. I actually regret it. I feel like I should have pointed out the obvious, but probably best that I didn't. Despite my son being so much better than any of the other kids, he didn't pitch once all season. By the end, they finally figured out who was the best, and my son would catch and his buddy would pitch and they'd strike most kids out. If they got on base though, it was a crapshoot, because none of the infielders could catch my kid's throw from behind home plate on a steal. I hated the season, but I went to all of the games to support him. Thank heavens for smart phones. I would distract myself until my kid came up to bat halfway through the game, then go back to my phone. I can really understand why in some cases, parents yell at coaches. I had been on the other side, so I just couldn't be that guy.
