My son just got engaged and we are letting the brides family Take the Lead.
The bride's family is very frugal and we are pretty comfortable that they will keep the costs down.
But to answer your question, I think it's really hard to say what the costs should be when you're dealing with another family who have different opinions on money and how it should be spent.
