Identify and develop the gifted quickly but left behind the average kids who just wanted to have fun playing on a team. The people running the system let the average kids know there's room for them by about age 13. Tough luck if you're a late bloomer. I prefer a more inclusive system that gets a lot of kids the experience of competition. In the US system, everybody knows who the good ones are and puts them quickly on all star and travel teams.
