Most 80-year-olds don't think that way either. My parents both in their mid-70s realize anything could end their life, cancer, major respiratory illness, etc. They feel they lived productive lives and are ready for the next step when it happens. They also don't feel like the world needs to shut down for their sake. Why don't we ask those most affected before assuming they are all afraid and wishing for everything to shut down.
You want to know the impact on elderly people, they don't get to see their families, their grandkids, etc.. They are limited in terms of the remaining time they have left to do what they want in this life. I don't think you are considering what this shut down is doing
towards their quality of life as well.
My father would tell you to go mind your own business, Sandy, and when you think about it I agree with him. And these kids
are certainly not as affected by the virus.
If the teachers are that worried, let's construct plastic shields in the classrooms. That way you can wall out any virus spread through
the air, wear a mask if you are a teacher, but we could make it relatively safe for our teachers.
