It was over. Our best player was a no-show and Coach Klein had no answers. A longtime Mud Dogs fan, I was devastated. For my whole life, we had never won anything. In the one season we finally had something to really cheer for, our fragile hope was snatched out of our hands after 30 minutes of putrid play. Frankly, I'm surprised we weren't down more.
Then, out of nowhere, Bobby Boucher ran out on the field in the 2nd half and miraculously led the team to victory. To this day, I get a little misty-eyed when I think about that win.
