Seriously, its not bad advice. Most impressive was that they might have had a very different season had they held on to defeat Boston Collage in Boston. I think that loss was so disappointing it probably had a very negative effect on them psychologically and they played that way following that loss.

History Lesson:
The same thing happened to Pitt after BYU went in and defeated the then #3 ranked Panthers that returned 19 of 22 starters from a top 15 team the prior year. I remember Foge Fazio (Pitt HC) after loosing to Oklahoma the following week was asked what happened to his team he said, "I could not get the BYU loss out of their heads. A team is often more fragile mentally than you think. We win that game we would have been fine today, but if you went inside those kids head they started this morning thinking, 'if we can't beat BYU we could never beat Oklahoma' and you are who you think you are." Pitt went on to a 3-8 season. Foge could not get them righted, even with essentially the same group of players that was great, top 15 the prior year.

On BYU's sideline, they had defeated the #3 team in the country. It allowed them to believe there was no team that could beat them. They went on to win the 1984 NC.
