I did it for a summer. It didn't really bother me.
I will say that many of the people that are donating appear to be destitute or on drugs. I felt kind of weird from time to time.
Note: My roommates and I did it on a bet. Back then they paid $10, $25, $25 and then $35 (4 visits a month) and you could only give once a week. I liked the extra cash, so kept it up all summer long.
