At the same time this setup would officially diminish our standing every year we were to make some noise — & any elite bowl selection we'd earn on a given year would always come at the direct expense of the other top G5 team for that year rather than on any of the top P5s.

Among other things, I think the G5 would come to hate us in no time if we were to capture that level of success regularly. But the whole idea that only a single, non-playoff spot is the best we & the G5 can be hopeful for — the whole idea just really rips me. It rips me — whatever the new crumbs we might receive from the P5 alliance.
