Honestly, I'd play the game because...
it allows us the best opportunity to wrap up a NY6 game and eliminating the possibility of Cincinnati being that team if we do get a NY6 birth.

The whole bottom of college football would have to fall out for BYU to be in the CFP. I understand that. While not totally impossible, highly unlikely. A win by Cincinnati over BYU would give them their best opportunity, at this time, to really threaten for the opportunity to be included in the CFP. Currently Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Notre Dame hold power over those 4 positions of the CFP.

A loss by Cincinnati really doesn't destroy their opportunity to be G5's rep to a NY6 bowl as Costal Carolina and Marshall are far enough back that the loss to the Cougars shouldn't land them farther back than #16, so this game would be more beneficial to them than BYU.

If we lose, then we lose the opportunity for a NY6 game and end up in the Potato Bowl again or the Pin Stripe game in NY, but at least we don't end up standing outside the window looking in.

The bottom line is that I believe we need to add a Top 25 team some how, some way. BSU's lackluster, close win over Hawaii didn't bring them back to the TOP 25. Now they could gain momentum by beating San Jose St this Saturday, but they lose and BYU has no opportunity this season to even claim a victory over a TOP 25 team, even though BSU was as the time we defeated them. At the same time, for BSU to climb back in the top 25, some other teams ahead of them have to lose.

I believe a game with Cincinnati is one of the scenarios BYU should pursue.
