The problem for BYU in this situation that I haven't seen discussed is

that football is in the red. If we schedule UW in short order, travel arrangement costs are through the roof and virtually no way to get a refund if UW were to cancel last minute. Possibly hundreds of thousands of $$ to eat. BYU doesn't have that luxury. This would have likely been the primary concern. If the PAC were to have guaranteed travel recoup at the very least, BYU agrees.
