I'm glad I drove myself around the Galilee area, there's enough there that you already know the significance of and it would have taken a long time in a group when it doesnt seem there would be much advantage of it over self-guiding. I liked going to the Garden tomb on my own and exploring Jerusalem on my owns, but I think i could have benefited from a guide for the old city in terms of getting around and appreciating what I was seeing. Took myself to the Jerusalem Center which was cool. Took a tour bus to Masada / dead sea and there was lots of wasted time visiting a mandatory gift shop on the way but I'm also not sure I'd want to drive through those checkpoints etc alone, plus they pointed out where the dead sea scrolls were found, Jericho etc.
