Something stinks with Sagarin
How strength of schedule is calculated is critical for any season, but especially in 2020.

Here's the average SOS in the Big 10
Big 10 (East): 7.6
Big 10 (West): 14.0

As a comparison, here is the average SOS in the SEC
SEC (East): 31.6
SEC (West): 34.1

Most agree that the SEC is the strongest conference, so why aren't their SOS measures higher? In a season where they're not playing OOC games, I would expect there to be no difference, or at least see the SEC with stronger SOS since they're, you know, the strongest conference.

So why does this matter? Since the Big 10 SOS measurements all seem to be inflated, then each win gets more credit than it deserves and each loss receives less of a penalty. This is why OhioSt is #2 overall with only 4 wins against Penn St (1-5), Nebraska (1-4), Rutgers (2-4), and a narrow win over Indiana (5-1). Sorry, that is not one of the toughest schedules in the country. Sagarin has 5 of the top 13 teams in the country from the Big 10, including Wisconsin at #6 and Iowa at #7 (with 2 losses).

I admit BYU's schedule is weak, but nobody should be looking at Sagarin. There's some serious Big10 bias going on. Penn St at #21 in the country with a 1-5 record?
