If one blames a loss on their fans’ message board, they have big problems.
Motivation is one thing, but if BYU can’t beat an opponent because their opponent was angry about what fans said, what does that say about the quality of our team? This is a top 10 ranked BYU Football team, who has one of the best O line since 1984, one of the best quarterbacks since Detmer, one of the best receiver corps in my 41 years, and a D line who is killing it with a 3 man rush. That is not to mention our running back, who, like Wilson, Milne, Romney, Christensen, Wake, Barrington, and Tonga, who are finalists for being the best at the individual position.
Heck, if your coach is up as finalist for coach of the year, I would hope that they would not lose sleep over a fan’s message board post or something on social media pushing their opponent to a point of insurmountable motivation. Motivation is always important, but it will never overcome superior talent, physical attributes, team work, and proper game planning.
