I think your post proves the point in favor of expanding the playoff. 9 non-P5 teams have made the final four in last last 25 years (though I would count Villanova and UCONN as non-P5, because they are not in a "P-5" conference). Since 1995, how many non-P5 teams have played for the national title in football or in the CFP? Zero. 9>0.
Since the CFP started in 2014, 11 different teams have played in the CFP. 20 different teams have played in the Final Four during that same time. Twice as many. The last three Final Four's have had four different teams each year. Only two times since 2014 have two teams been in consecutive Final Fours (Kentucky and Wisconsin in 2014 and 2015). Four times in that span, the four teams in the Final Four had no repeats from the previous year. Give me CBB parity in the CFP all day long.
