Blackface as a denigration to black Americans is not the same thing as dressing
as a celebrity for a Halloween party. In fact, it's quite the opposite. If I want to dress as Jack Sparrow, I would wear a wig. If I want to dress as Hulk Hogan, I'd wear a blonde wig and stuff my shirt to look bigger. Dressing as a famous person is not the same thing as blackface performances intended to mock former slaves and their descendants.

Personally I would not want such a costume (what a mess!), but there is a difference between historical blackface and dressing as a celebrity. A single Halloween costume should not ruin the rest of a person's life.
