to squeeze double the horse power and torque from the same size engine of 10 years ago, sure. It’s a very simple and very traditional V8. Kind of like GM and Chrysler with their cylinder shut downs. Very simple. So simple that GM has gone to a system that can now vary every last cylinder that gets shut down in hopes this solves their oil burning and therefore CEL issue. <end sarcasm="">
Simple went out the door when it comes to truck engines a long time ago. A turbo actually is simple. A tried and true technology that’s been perfected on Diesel engines during the last 20 years, as well as gas engines in cars like Volvos, which is where Ford cribbed a ton of their turbo knowledge.</end>
